Autumn Sunshine Progress

From laying down my base of light yellows I have moved to glazing in orange and red tones. These are beginning to create a sense of depth. Using darker greens I have begun to define the shaggy petal shapes. My next step will be to develop the shadows and details in both the flower and leaves. Using two different methods- adding more reds and oranges as well as yellows compliment, purple. Doing this will help finish to bringing this flower to life.   My next step, to finish the glass vase and show you the finished product!!! So stay tuned...

  I've chosen to feature this single bloom. Hiding it's centre behind its golden petals it has a shy sort of character. With my drawing completed I begin laying in the palest yellow pigment. The light in this painting is coming from the left. I will be glazing on multiple layers of a variety of yellows to bring out it's sunny nature. After capturing a good quality closeup photo of this amazing bloom. I draw out my work and begin.Rules about working light to dark or dark to light are there to be adapted.Often I just work outward from my focal area.Setting up the highly detailed centre of interest in this piece is done by using deeppurple based pinks.
